Life Lessons: Weaving Nutrition, Wellness, Books, & Animal Love into a Fully Textured Journey of Happiness
My interview with Lifestyle Motivator Nancy on a recent Ladies Who Lunch Conversation |
Nancy Addison is the kind of woman you like right off the pickle dish. Maybe it's her Lonestar roots.
She is vibrant, curious, passionate, engaged, and full of delights.
You think you know her but even after many years, you are pleasantly surprised to learn some new aspect to her prismatic personality.
For example, during our recent Ladies Who Lunch Conversations Nancy told us she is a certified international wildlife rehabilitator.
I had no idea that such an expertise existed, nor did I know that Nancy possessed this training but I wasn’t surprised to learn she has the “animal whisperer’s gift.
In fact, Nancy has earned more Certifications than you can shake a sheepskin at.
To my way of thinking or perspective, Nancy approaches most things ~ even what seems like disparate things ~ from the heart. She is nurturing. She sincerely wants to improve the lives of others. She is a lifelong teacher. Because she is a life-long learner, I think.
We have much to learn from Nancy and her journey to a healthy lifestyle.
If you find you’re drawn to a seemingly cornucopia of interests or pursuits, Nancy has life lessons for you.
Time
Outside of “where does she find the time?” to mindfully participate in her full-on wheel of blissful aspirations, I was curious, how does she create all her content?
After all, she is the author of more than six award-winning cookbooks/books, and host of Organic Healthy Lifestyle radio show/podcast with more than 60K downloads in 58 countries. She is a mother (to two grown, successful children), a devoted girlfriend, a volunteer, and an inspiring woman.
In the spirit of the Ladies Who Lunch Conversations where I get to showcase successful women who can influence and enrich our lives, I asked Nancy how she came to write books. With seemingly such ease ~ turning out a collection of books that ordinary folks might find daunting, to say the least.
She thought about the question, and recommended to start writing, perhaps with journaling. “Just write!” she declared. It’s a refrain I’ve heard from a number of successful writers.
WRITE and write what you know.
Despite Nancy’s focus on her family and work and her myriad community activities, she found that writing lifted her nurturing and educational attributes - calling in her teaching acumen, especially. Nancy also laid out a roadmap for every book before she started each manuscript. Great advice. Good to know where one is headed when starting on a journey!
You should know that Nancy is a motivator. A superlative motivator and life coach who has your back. Diet, Nutrition, Wellness, Stressbusting are in her wheelhouse.
Success Breeds Success Organic Healthy Lifestyle podcast
The books in turn, led to speaking engagements. After all, it seems natural that as her roster of books expanded, there were more people who wanted her to share her wisdom with them at seminars and conferences. Nancy loves to share.
At the same time, media invitations arrived. Nancy is a frequent guest on news programs and lifestyle shows.
The opportunities seemed to roll in.
Forever generous, Nancy invited me to be a recent guest on her award-winning, successful Podcast: Organic Healthy Lifestyle where I was able to offer some gardening tips for sustainable ornamental and edible plants. Thank you, Nancy.
She also offers healthy, restorative retreats that offer yoga and nutrition classes.
In the recent “Before Times,” Nancy spent a summer on her own in beautiful Costa Rica. And leave it to ambitious Nancy that upon finding an injured squirrel there, turned the squirrel's rehab into a book: For the Love of Willy ~ Overcoming Sadness After Losing a Beloved Pet.
This is an activity book. Children and their caregivers can color in the designated pages and read the heartwarming story. Not a spoiler, but you’ll be happy to know that Willy now resides at the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary in Costa Rica. Listen to my Ladies Who Lunch Conversation with Nancy to learn how she came to name the squirrel, Willy. (And for oodles of other life-enhancing tips.)
Nancy’s publishing earned the book a Mom’s Choice Awards 2021 Gold Medal Winner and the Maincrest Media 2021 Book Award Winner.
I got my copy. I recommend the book for any child on your holiday gift list ~ even if they don’t have an animal pet, (perhaps they have a plant pet!) ~ the lessons learned of love and responsibility are so valuable and will resonate.
Here's a super sweet video of Nancy feeding Willy.
The writing and publication of the book, "For the Love of Willy," is a life lesson in how to make lemonade out of lemons.
How inspiring!
Thank you, for being such a special Ladies Who Lunch guest, Nancy. I sincerely believe the tips and life's lessons you share will motivate others to pursue their passions...
